Our first major show of the 2008 season - and the weather gods were kind to us for a change - we got soaked last year!. Yes it was a beautiful hot early summer's day and 10 club cars were on our stand to celebrate it in the beautiful surroundings of the "castle" - complete with the adjacent cricket match. . Ralph and Eric as usual were there early to stake our claim on the club area (yes we were invaded by an American Car club and then later Preston and District MG joined us for a while until they found their own stand area.) For David and Sandra  this was their first taste of the classic car shows with our club and the hot sun certainly greeted them.  Fortunately Noel had remembered to bring his gazebo so we had somewhere to shelter and avoid getting scorched. It was excellent to Olive back on the show circuit after nearly 2 years away - and what is more she had made one of her famous apple pies - fantastic - I hope everyone got a slice! Welcome back Olive - lovely to see you back on the road to good health. Richard and his friend Dave didn't have much time to relax though - as Dave's car had cracked its sump on the way and was losing oil rapidly. Luckily there was all they needed to effect a temporary repair at the traders' stands around the show ground. The culmination to the day came as Ralph won best car award for his TC in the pre 1950's section - well done.
The hot sunshine lasted all day but on the way home we saw how lucky we had been as just a few miles down the road there were signs that there had been heavy rain and indeed the M57 was closed for while due to flash fooding!
Below is a gallery of photos of the show.

TATTON PARK - 31ST MAY/1ST JUNE 2008
The two day show at Tatton proved to be one with two distinct seasons - Summer and Autumn. There was a good club turn out on both days with a full stand but for the ones who went on the Saturday - they were lucky enough to have the summer's day  with  bright sunshine. On the sunday a dark cloudy morning turned into prolonged rain all day - just stopping by 4 p.m. when every one was leaving.
The day was made a little more bearable with Cam and Richard winning 1st and 2nd prizes in the MGA category - the club's winning ways continue!.

Midsummer weekend - well you would have to look twice at the calendar to make sure. It was absolutely atrocious weather. Saturday was a virtual washout even though a couple of brave club members did venture out into the pouring rain. Sunday was dry but with very strong winds. We had quite a full stand on the day and probably ours was the best of those that turned up. Exhibitors had a lot of empty spaces and visitors were quite thin on the ground. Our new gazebo survived but Brendan's didn't along with a couple of club stands who had theirs wrecked.

LEIGHTON HALL - SUNDAY 13TH JULY 2008
A beautiful summer Sunday - AT LAST!
Yes it was actually warm and sunny for the first time in a month - and to prove it both Peter and Cam got sunburnt. Only 6 MGs ( and Paul's Triumph) on the stand but a good display with the new sail banners flanking the front of the stand. They must have made a good impression as at least 2 clubs came over and asked us about them. This show gets better every year -a beautiful setting - not too big - nice friendly atmosphere and only 55 miles away - if you haven't been yet make sure it's in your diary for next year.

TATTON PARK - Saturday and Sunday 17th/16th August 2008
A bit of deja-vu here as just like the spring show we had sunshine on the Saturday - with 8 club cars on show ( plus an itinerant Ferrari) - this was followed by a very wet Sunday and 10 club cars on the stand.
The weekend was brightened once again with a club member winning an award -
this time it was Alan Gtrindley who took the runner's up trophy for best MG with his MGC roadster.

VICTORIA PARK - WIDNES
27/ 28TH SEPTEMBER 2008
A beautiful sunny weekend at Widnes as can be seen from the unusual aerial "bird's eye" view seen in the photo left.
This was taken on the Saturday by Dave of Rainhill Mast Photography using a 50 foot high telescopic mast -( a possible new idea for our show?). Alan was very keen on this and bought  an A4 photo which included his MGC in the centre  (just visible at the lower left hand edge in the photo).
On the Saturday Eric and Bob joined Alan and on the Sunday we had 8 cars , and with Richard taking control of the cooking this year with free bacon butties all round -it was  excellent!

With the tour starting at 8.30 a.m. it mrant an early start but everyone managed to get there on time after getting through the traffic on the M6. Photos weren't allowed on the factory floor but Nigel managed to get some excellent  photos in the lineage display at the start of the tour.
