CHOLMONDELEY CASTLE - MAY 9TH
Bill fixes his starter motorRalph's TC heads the line upThe "castle" made an excellent back drop to the show.
8 club cars made the 60 mile trip into Cheshire for the first of the May shows. the weather was kind to us so it was top down motoring all day with some sunbathing thrown in for good measure. A big turn out of classics probably did approach the number to make the show title( The show of 1000 Classics) close to being true.

CLUB RUN TO DELAMERE AND MOULDSWORTH
SUNDAY MAY 23RD

Arriving at the Delamere car par parkEnjoying coffe and biscuits after the walkRalph made it at last with Eric navigatingPicnic time at MouldsworthVery little shade from the sun
This was the first of our club summer runs this year. Ray Trivass was in charge of choosing the destination this time with Delamere being the choice. After meeting up at Briars Hall and the Rainford by pass, Ray lead the convoy of 12 cars across the Bridge into Darkest Cheshire. After an hour of scenic driving in increasingly sunny conditions we arrived at the expansive car park at the centre of Delamere Forest. Most of the memebrs decided to go for a walk with a few staying behind to "mind" the cars. With car park charges at £1 per hour it became clear we wouldn't stay too long - and one of the wardens was checking the tickets. An hour or so later after relaxing after the walk and enjoying a coffee break there was a call to go to nearby Mouldsworth . Most of us set off for the 5 mile drive to the Car museum. There we enjoyed a very hot and sunny picnic in the rural museum grounds before having a tour of the Museum .
TATTON PARK - SATURDAY & SUNDAY 5/6TH JUNE
It was a beautiful sunny day on the Saturday for the 40 mile trip to Tatton . We had a similar pitch to last year , under the trees in the shade, which was a blessing as the temperatures reached 25C. There were only 6 club cars in the stand so it looked a little empty in the space meant for 15. Richard, Peter and Cam camped overnight keeping Brendan and Mike Law company on their 2nd night. Bren's camp fire kept us warm even though it was slightly illegal. Sunday dawned to heavy rain so the campers didn't expect many to turn up too early - but suddenly they all appeared at 8.30 to 9 a.m. - it had been dry in Ormskirk and Southport. By 10.30 a.m. there were 17 club cars crammed onto our stand with no room to rearrange them into a neat order - nevertheless there was an award for the club - well done to Ralph who's TC took best MG in the Show .

MIDSUMMERS NIGHT'S DRIVE - SATURDAY 19TH JUNE 2010
For the second year we decided to have a drive out to view the sunset on the longest day of the year - ( well it was nearly the longest day , with the Saturday evening  being the most convenient day closest to the 21st June) and once again we had a beautiful dry evening. With 8 cars leaving Briars Hall at 8.30 p.m. , we met up with another 8 club cars at the Rivington Barn at around 9-15 pm. The ultimate destination was the car park just below the peak of Rivington Pike. At 9.30 p.m. a few of us thought that we would get a better view of the sunset higher up , so we took the path from the car park and made our way up to the "pigeon loft" - just in time to see the sun dropping below the horizon - and with enough light to get back down to the car park without falling on the rough terrain.
Back in the car park, Jamie had just arrived with the BBQ which was being fired up  . Several other cars came and went expecting to find a deserted car park for their "activities" - 16 MGs scared them away for some reason! An excellent atmosphere prevailed once again with BBQ smoke drifting across the hillside. Eventually , with all the food eaten we headed for home at around 11 pm. If you haven't joined us on this one yet - make a date for next year!

LYDIATE CLASSIC CAR SHOW  - 11TH JULY
Six club cars visited this local show which raised over £1000 for Cancer Research. There were around 50 classic cars there and a good showing of the general public - but not much else to keep the classic enthusiast entertained. Photos - Richard Sherman , Andrew Dickenson

BANK HALL SHOW - SUNDAY 25TH JULY 2010
Another of our local shows - this time in the grounds of the ruined mansion of Bank Hall near Tarleton. The classic car show was to raise funds to aid in the restoration of the 200 year old gothic style pile. We had 7 club cars joining the throng of around 50 classic cars parked in the orchard gardens. There seems to be a familar trend with these small shows - that of charging the classic car exhibitors an entrance fee - this time it was £3 -  is it just me being mean in finding this increasing practice a bit of a cheek?
Anyway - it was a cloudy but dry afternoon with pleasant company , one cake stall and the hall grounds to keep us occupied . The best was to come with both Ralph and John winning awards for their cars.
photos to follow shortly.

CHOLMONDLEY CASTLE - SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 5TH
David's twin cam heads the club displaylunchtime in the sunthe full club line upwe managed 10 cars altogetherA guest from Fylde area with his 1936 MG PAA derelict T type in the overgrown greenhouses. It later turned out that it had been sold that afternoon - to none other than one of our members - Darren!
This show is always worth the 50+ mile drive out into Cheshire. A great little show, if you can call an assembly of approaching 1000 cars little. We had 6 cars on the stand with the 4 of Richard Sherman, Richard Bryant, Ron and Cam driving in convoy - with Bill and Bob meeting us there. It was a bright if breezy day and we made an early exit by 3.30 pm to avoid the queues - why not join us next year.

We only managed 6 cars on our stand on the Saturday, but it was the better of the 2 days, with warm sunshine. 5 of us camped overnight - the ever present Brendan Law, plus Eric Hesketh, Richard Sherman, Peter Dobson and Cam . There are several reasons for camping - besides the obvious camaradie of MG enthusiasts and the late night party. I) save petrol having to travel in for the 2 journeys. 2) save queuing at the gate twice 3) Not having to get up so early to arrive by 9 am - so a leisurely breakfast can be had.
Sunday dawned with drizzle, but a dance by Brendan seemed to scare the clouds away and it remained dry for the rest of the day and then our stand filled with 12 cars to make a good display.
VICTORIA PARK WIDNES FAIRGROUND ORGAN RALLY
SATURDAY/SUNDAY 25/26TH SEPTEMBER 2010
This local show seems now to have become the traditional end of outdoor season show. It is a 2 day show but most classic cars only seem to go on the Sunday although Eric did turn out both days. We had six cars on our stand and Dave maguire had arrived early to peg out a suitable area next to the trees. By 10 a.m. we had our pitch sorted with the gazebo up and ready. Richard also kept the tradition started by our late friend Tom evans 3 years ago, by having a free bacon butty for all attending club members - and by 11 a.m. the kitchen was well under way and the morning snack was enjoyed by all. The weather stayed dry and bright all day and it certainly brought out the crowds ( and it was a free show) but it was little chilly when the sun went in. This remains a fairly entertaining show athough it was noticeable that therewere fewer of the large fairground organs on display than in previous years and no steam traction engines.
