Once again Jamie Coventry , Paul Jackson, Peter Dobson and Lisa Christian put on a scalextrric race evening . With 32 starting places everyone enjoyed the fun in competeing through the heats until we were down to the final with tom harrison, Andrew Dickenson, David Bryant and Martin Pagett competing . Martin triumphed for 2nd year in succession and swears he had not practised at all .

An excellent evening was made even more special when Stephanie Law presented her 10th birthday money to John and Charmione Woolam as a donation to Derian House Children's Hospice.
MAY 2007 - TOOL AUCTION
Once again, club member John Dickenson arranged an auction of excellent quality tools all suitable for use in our garages. With about 30 items for sale there was a lot of interest from the gathering of over 50 club members. Noel Skinner once again volunteered to act as auctioneeer and kept the proceedings moving with his humorous comments. At the end of the evening, Lisa calculated that we had raised over £100 profit for our club charities. JUNE 2007 - DRIVING SKILLS
At last, after 3 years of waiting , the weather stayed fine enough (just) for the driving skills challenge . 14 club members took up Cam's challenge to take their cars across the car park to collect a plastic cup and then place it on a table at the other end. Sounds easy - but try it blind fold . Eventually there was a tie for best time with both Nigel Lomas (navigated by Peter Ferris) and Sam Aspden (navigated by wife Karen) on a time of 31 seconds. The 1st place was awarded to Sam as he was actually in his MG.

AWARDS EVENING - AUGUST 16TH
The Pride of Ownership awards were presented to winners of the 3 categories from last month and then the main awards were presented in front of a good turn out of members packed in to the conservatory part of our Briars Hall base. Club supporter award was given to Tom Harrison for all his work in printing our monthly newsletter , which has been in colour over the last 18months. Honorary club membership was given to John and Charmione Woollam for their help at many club meetings over the last couple of years. The final award of the evening was the Dargan Trophy which this year was awarded to Andrew Dickenson - Bill and Olive - last year's winners chose Andrew for all the effort he puts in to taking photographs for this website and the club newsletter as well as the time he has spent preparing posters and other literature for our annual show - well deserved Andrew.
Unfortunately, Tom Ford our chairman was too ill to attend and present the awards, so Jamie our Treasurer stepped in.

QUIZ EVENING - SEPTEMBER 20TH 2007
With Lisa (show secretary) having to miss this meeting, there was only a brief synopsis of our show available. Nevertheless, it looks from the figures available that , despite the bad weather, we made a reasonable amount for our charities. John and Charmione Woolam , fundraisers for Derian House, couldn't make the Awards Evening last month but managed to make this meeting . Our chairman, Tom Ford is seen in the photo , presenting them at last with their Honorary Membership Certificate. A motoring quiz filled the rest of the evening - (did you know a tube a Rozalex handcream cost 2/6d in 1960?). The winning team , with 26 out of 40 , being Richard, Chris and yes that man again Raymondo - well done to all who took part - I hope you enjoyed it.
CHRISTMAS MEAL - DECEMBER 20TH 2007 - BRIARS HALL ORANGERIE SUITE
Over 50 club members and friends gathered at Briars Hall to celebrate Christmas on our usual club night - Thursday 20th December. Photo above shows some of those present - recognise anyone?
After Jamie had skillfully managed to fit in the extra bodies and sort out everyone's seating preferences, we all settled down to enjoy a very good meal provided by the Chef at Briars Hall. We then went into party mood with a quiz set by Charmione Woollam and then a reverse raffle draw with last person standing winning ( well done done Barbara -Dave Law's partner) and finally a raffle draw with around 20 prizes - so every table had a winner. Thanks to Jools - Jamie's partner for organising the gifts.
Charmione's Christmas quiz was certainly challenging - at least I hadn't got a clue for most of the answers - well did you know the names of the 3 wise men? For once Ray Trivass's team didn't win and it was left to Noel & Gill Skinner with daughter Rachel taking the honours with an excellent score of 14 out of 20. Rachel is seen left receiving the winning prize ( Noel gallantly conceded that she had got most of the answers).
Finally to bring the evening to a happy conclusion, Derian House were presented with a cheque for £1000 (composed of £700 from part of the proceeds of our show and £300 from Jamie's sponsored walk) . Jamie is seen in the photo left presenting the cheque to John and Charmione Woollam - fundraisers from Derian.
