Setting up the college grounds on the Saturday morning, things looked very bleak. A stalwart troop of club members turned out in pouring rain and high winds to put up the tent ( which proved absolutely essential) and set out the field. With the tent up and winds pulling at it fiercely , extra straps were put over it to hold it down. Club members ventured off into the corners of the grounds putting up signs and laying out the arena. The Capri club had arrived very early ,( in fact some were there on the Friday evening) to set up their gazebo and then set off for lunch at McDonald's. They had not been gone long when a gust of wind turned their new gazebo into a kite which then landed on the roadway and headed for the arena gang. Willing club members quickly dismantled the canvas to prevent further damage but the frame was wrecked. By midday they were all soaked through and with most of the jobs done decided to retire until later in the day when the weather was predicted to be better.
The evening saw better weather and the Murder Mystery with an audience of 100  and evening party featuring Ian on guitar once again went without a hitch and a good time was had by all .
The Sunday morning looked a bit overcast but there was no sign of rain and the run and show cars started roling in from 8.30 a.m. onwards. Despite the gloomy conditions most of the booked in cars arrived by midday and the show  progressed brilliantly to the strains of the ever enthusiastic children's entertainer, Barrington. There were a few showers during the afternoon, which may have kept some of the public away and also chased a few of the exhibitors home early, but those who stayed saw a full arena for all the classes of awards and bright sunshine greeted the Car of the Show winner , the 1959 Austin Healey 3000 of Rob Allen from Southport.
