This is planned as our Autumn Quiz
PLEASE NOTE that we are staying permanently with our move to the 2nd Tuesday of the month - this is to avoid a clash with another club meeting on the same evening and filling the car park - we hope that this does not inconvenience any of you.
Our Club Autumn Picnic held last week at David Hose's Community Farm began with a search party sent out to rescue Dorothy who was lost in the darkest depths of Crosby . Meanwhile , Cam started serving up the bacon barms from the outside barbecue area—good job we had nice sunny weather! Suitably nourished, club members then gathered in the large indoor area to take part in the annual Rocker Box Challenge or just watch and cheer on the contestants of which there were 8. After much concentration by all contestants and some crashes of the buggies, , Dave's rocker box emerged as the eventual winner, seen in the photo being presented with the trophy by last year's winner, Jerry Myers .
Slightly earlier than his actual birthday date, club members helped Cam celebrate with a cake and candles supplied by Sandy. The 1st prize of a M&S hamper in the 'Guess the Number of Sweeties' in the jar competition went to Steve Till with his guess of 150 when there were actually 148 in the jar. 2nd prize of an Etsy hamper was won by Mal Evans with his guess of 132 and 3rd prize of the actual sweetie jar was won by Ste Edmond with his guess of 197. Congratulations to all.
Joe turned up in his latest acquisition - a stunning red MGB GT V8 which had driven up from Devon on the previous day—this tempted half the members outside to inspect it . Eventually they were persuaded to go back inside as John Lloyd & Anna finished off the afternoon nicely by entertaining members on their guitar and mandolin respectively with sing along folk songs . Overall, this was a most enjoyable afternoon especially as the weather was kind to the 25 club members who attended .
Many thanks to David Hose for once again allowing us to use the amazing facilities at the Bridge Inn ( a former garden centre and now used as a community farm) .
